Redskins sponsor Rockies Sports Bar in Belfast was the host to a meeting of past and present last week, as bar owner and former Redskins goalie Jim Graves met with current defenseman David Carr.
Carr was in Belfast, Northern Ireland to present Graves with a special Redskins away jersey signed by the current squad that will be proudly displayed amongst a whole host of hockey jerseys from around the world.
Rockies sponsor the Redskins away jersey and have their logo proudly displayed on the front of the black and red uniforms.
“It was good to meet Jim and his dog Patch at the bar” explained Carr, who also visited Northern Ireland’s top tourist attraction the Giants Causeway on his visit.
“Obviously the bar is linked with the local Elite League side the Belfast Giants but it is good that Jim still has a place in his heart for his old team”
“Hockey players can be a sentimental bunch at times and I know when Jim attended the end of era game when Streatham ice rink closed last year, he was touched by it”
The bar is a classic and is located next to the Odyssey Arena and is hockey themed pretty much throughout.
“As a former Redskin player myself I am very pleased to have an association with the club and my business Rockies Sports Bar” explained Graves, who iced as a Skin in 1989/90.
“Rockies has a great reputation as one of the top hockey bars in Europe and is also the official sports bar for current Elite league champions Belfast Giants”
“I have great memories from my Streatham days now over 20 years ago and during that time made life- long friends from the club. There was no question that I wanted to support one of the UK’s oldest ice hockey clubs”
